Wheel Alignment, Tyre's being aligned

Wheel Alignment

Car and Van Wheel Alignment

Replacing your car and van tyres early, plus the rise in fuel costs, caused by wheel alignment (or tracking) issues is a large cost to your business, not to mention the time that your vehicle is not earning money whilst off the road.

The good news is, we have standard and computerised alignment machinery to check and adjust the wheel alignments on all van types from car-derived vans up to 7T twin wheel vehicles. We’ve even got the capability to cope with Extra Long Wheel Base and High Roof Vans at a number of our centres too.

Causes of Misalignment

  • Driving through potholes
  • Travelling over speed bumps
  • Riding up kerbs

Simply take your vehicle to Ryans Tyres and ask for our wheel alignment check.

An accurate alignment also provides safe and predictable vehicle control and road holding alongside a smoother and more comfortable ride. You can count on us to make sure that your van tyres are running on the correct path.

Puncture Repair

The cost of replacing damaged tyres that still have usable tread can seriously impact your bottom line. To help reduce such unnecessary costs, our experts can inspect any damaged car or van tyre to assess its suitability for repair, rather than replacement.

If it’s safe to do so, we’ll carry out repairs to British Standard BS159. If we’re in any doubt about your driver’s safety, we’ll recommend the best course of action.

This repair service is available from any one of our service centres and also caters for run flat tyres as well as low profile tyres common on many company cars today.

If you have any questions, just ask one of our technicians.

What’s not repairable

Your driver’s safety is our priority, which is why we won’t replace any tyres if we feel it is not safe to do so. This may be because:

  • The tyre has been run whilst flat – causing irreparable damage to the sidewall that isn’t always visible
  • The damage is on the sidewall
  • We’ve spotted damaged or visible bead wire
  • The rubber or tread has separated
  • Leaking fluid from faulty suspension or brakes has deteriorated the tyre
  • Internal sidewalls show signs of overheating from a long term low pressure
  • The damage is too large to be repaired
  • The tyre has already reached its minimum tread depth for replacement

Wheel Balance

Not having your wheels balanced correctly usually causes a vibration in the steering wheel and dashboard which will eventually cause premature tyre wear and can cause damage to suspension parts.

If you find that your steering vibrates above a certain speed, this may be a sign that your wheels are not balanced properly, if left, this can not only be annoying when you drive, but may affect the performance of your vehicle.

At Modern Tyres we use the latest digital balancing equipment which have the latest technology balancing wheels to the nearest gram. When you purchase new tyres from Modern Tyres we always balance your wheels due to the small inconsistencies in the rubber compound that new tyres have.

You should also have your wheels checked or re-balanced after an impact with a kerb or pothole.
